Habsnaack, also spelled Habsneack or Habsnaak, is the biggest city in Drakenholt and the seat of the Royal Chancellor and capital of the County of Naackland. It is the most important settlement in the Rovina plains and center for Draken culture and society.

History

Founding

Habsnaack grew around Habsnaack Fortress, which was founded by future king of Drakenholt Orwand of Japstep, a human who migrated along with much of its people from the north land of Jagged-Step searching for arable land and came across a community of Sarkans led by a peasant known as Ulrika living on the bend of the Naack river. Orwand and his people settled on the other side of the river, founding the village of Firdweg, but eventually they met and decided to join together under the authority of the lord of Drakenholt after Orwand had defeated the wolves plaguing the land, creating the first human-sarkan settlement and founding the county of Naackland, under Drakenholt Lordship.

Oni menace

Unbeknowst to them the land was claimed by a nomadic tribe known as the Oni (even though they had never settled there or anywise showed any sign of such "ownership") and came to collect tribute from Orwand, occupying Firdweg along the way. But since the now-count was away hunting, Ulrika thus was left to defend the fortress against the Oni, which she successful and gloriously did, driving away the Oni, not only defending Habsnaack but also forcing them to become tributaries of Drakenholt.

De-facto capital of Drakenholt

After Ulrika's coup placed now-senile Orwand on the throne of Drakenholt, and was named Royal Chancellor (de-facto ruler of the kingdom), the city grew in importance as Ulrika's residence.
